In The Transfer Window podcast, English journalist Ian McGarry said there is a possibility that Pep Guardiola will head to the MLS when he finishes his time at Manchester City.

According to the journalist, a reliable source has confirmed that the 48-year-old Spanish coach has an option in his contract to go to New York City after his period with Manchester City ends.

What makes Pep's arrival to the MLS feasible?

One of the ways that Guardiola's MLS move could be facilitated is that City Football Group owns both Manchester City and New York City FC allowing a smooth transition.

The Spanish manager already has an apartment in New York, where he often spends his holidays, as does Domènec Torrent, who was his assistant at Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City.

McGarry on the arrival of Guardiola to the MLS

"I have been told, on very good grounds, that in his first contract with Manchester City he was granted an option that when his link with them ended or when he wanted to leave, he would be offered the option of training at New York City FC," said McGarry on his programme.

"We know that Pep has a beautiful apartment in New York, that he visits during his breaks, and he already spent a sabbatical there although the MLS might look like something too quiet for a coach like Guardiola one could see it almost like a semi-sabbatical year," continued the English journalist.

"So after the pressure of being at Manchester City for five years, maybe he could go to MLS for a year or two, live in New York and then think about his next job. Because clearly his status and his resumé would not change much, and he would be making a decision about his lifestyle when going to New York."
