Entrevista con Revolta, el genio de Brasil

"Nadie se lo esperaba, ni siquiera nosotros, y cuando ocurrió explotamos de alegría", cuenta Gabriel. Al preguntarle sobre si creía que EDG les subestimó su respuesta es clara y rotunda: "Sí. Siendo honesto, no entendieron nuestro estilo de juego, lo fuerte que podríamos ser con determinados campeones o lo bueno que puede llegar a ser nuestro early game"

"Creo que cada año Brasil y las regiones WildCard han mostrado más y más y lo están haciendo cada vez mejor. Ganar a EDG enseño a todo el mundo que no puedes pensar en las regiones WildCard como victorias gratis" señala el jugador brasileño.

Los partidos son más emocionantes, más igualados, ninguna escuadra domina la competición tajantemente. "Muchas regiones merecen su lugar en los Worlds, no solo Brasil, también Turquía y Rusia lo han hecho bien"

Revolta es un prodigio que destaca por su rareza. Sus dotes de liderazgo y motivación son capaces de mantener alta la moral de todo equipo. Deja al espectador boquiabierto con su magistral control de personajes que requieren una increíble técnica para ser usados. Su sonrisa y carisma hace que uno sea fan suyo tanto dentro como fuera de la Grieta del Invocador.

"Siempre intento buscar el lado positivo de todo, incluso cuando perdemos la gente me verá sonriendo. Eso me ayuda a mí y a mis compañeros a superar la derrota y aprender más de cualquier cosa que haya ocurrido", cuenta Revolta.

La victoria frente a los chinos no ha hecho que baje la guardia, sigue considerándolos el equipo a batir. "El mejor equipo de nuestro grupo es probablemente EDG y el más débil probablemente nosotros. La razón es que EDG tiene muy pocos puntos débiles y nosotros tenemos muchos, lo que nos hace más vulnerables que AHQ o H2K. Sin embargo, no creo que eso haga predecible que vayamos a perder contra esos equipos".

Entre las ventajas que INTZ tiene sobre el resto de equipos recalca el dominio del early game y de cómo aplicar una presión efectiva con el jungla, algo que según nos cuenta, han estudiado muchísimo y por eso está dando resultados. Pero otro de los factores principales de su éxito reside en el ambiente del equipo. "Somos un equipo que muy raramente discutirá y se enojará. Esto lleva a tener buenas conversaciones que nos hacen capaces de adaptarnos y aprender más rápido"

La afición les está tratando muy bien en Estados Unidos. "Oh, la gente es genial, nos animan tanto que a veces siento estar en casa", y Brasil está emocionado con la actuación de sus representantes. "Incluso habiendo perdido dos partidas, Brasil nos apoya enormemente, pero lo que más me han dicho es que he arruinado SoloQ al jugar Lee Sin, ahora lo tienen que banear en todos los elos porque la gente lo selecciona y pierden las partidas solos jajaja"

Aún así nos revela que la competición también ha llevado a momentos muy tensos. Tras la derrota frente a H2K hubo una larga charla sobre "por qué estaban de repente jugando mal y todos los miembros del equipo tuvieron que hablar acerca de todo, no solo sobre cosas del juego"

El joven brasileño ama el juego y afirma que en el hipotético caso de que ganase el mundial se iría de vacaciones para recargar las pilas y practicar más duro para la próxima competición.

Sin embargo, la vida de un jugador profesional de League of Legends conlleva sacrificios. Aparte de los largos e intensos entrenamientos y la presión constante por rendir siempre al máximo nivel, la ausencia de los seres queridos es algo que se hace notar. "Para mí lo más difícil de ser un jugador profesional es abandonar tu hogar y no ver a tu familia en mucho, mucho tiempo", confiesa. Con la ayuda de la meditación y su característica actitud positiva puede enfrentarse a todo bache que le plantee su carrera.

What is the best moment so far that you have experienced this Worlds?

The winning against EDG was probably the best moment in Worlds for me. Nobody expected, even us, and when it happened we just exploded with happiness.

Your win against EDG can be considered as one the biggest upsets of Worlds history, what do you think about that?

I think that every year Brazil and Wildcard regions have shown bigger and bigger and are doing better everytime, winning against EDG showed everybody that you cant just count wildcard regions as free wins. We still feel great about winning that match, it was a big important match for us and it mattered a lot.

Do you think that EDG understimated you (INTZ)?

I think they did. To be honest, they didn't understand how we liked to play, how strong we could be on some champions and how good our early game could be.

Who do you think is the best team of your group? And the weakest team? Why?

The best team is probably EDG and the weakest is probably us. The reason why is that EDG has few exploitable points of weaknesses and we have a lot, wich makes us more vulnerable than AHQ and h2k. However, I don't think that makes predictable that we are definitely going to lose to those teams.

What has been the moment of highest tension for you so far in the tournament?

After the h2k loss we had a big talk about why we were suddenly playing bad and everybody had to talk to each other about everything, not only in game stuff.

Brasil has qualified three times in a row for Worlds, do you think that should have a permanent spot for Worlds?

I think a lot of regions deserve a place at Worlds, not only Brazil, but Turkey and Russia have done well too. Those regions also deserve more.

Would you describe yourself as a possitive person? How does that influence your game and your teammates?

Yes, I always try to se the positive side of everything, even when we lose people will se me smiling. That helps me and my teammates to overcome defeat and learn more from anything that happens.

How has the support of USA crowd been? Have you received any special message from Brasil?

Oh, the crowd here is amazing, they support us so much that sometimes I feel like I am home. Even losing two games, Brazil is heavly supporting us, but the main thing they have told me is that I have made soloq worse by playing Lee Sin, now they have to ban it in every single elo because people pick it and lose the game alone hahaha.

You and your team have a good performance in the early game. Is there anything in particular that INTZ dominates that other teams don't?

I think we have a pretty good understanding about the early game and how to apply pressure with the jungler. This is one of the things that we have studied the most so it's paying off.

Does INTZ have any quality that could be considered as a special advantadge over the rest of the teams?

We are a team that will rarely fight each other and get mad. That leads to good conversations and it makes us capable of adapting and learning faster.

How would you rank yourself among all world junglers?

I don't know how to rank myself among the other junglers in the world, I'll let them say it!!

What would you do if you win Worlds?

If I won worlds I would take a vacation and recharge so I can practice harder for next season.

is the hardest thing about being a pro player?

For me the hardest thing about being a pro player is to leave home and don't see your family for a long long time.
