Carlos Vela named as Best Player of Week 5 of the MLS

The LAFC captain scored a hat-trick in the 5-0 win of his team against the San José Earthquakes, the Mexican striker leads the league with six goals.

The Major League Soccer announced that the Mexican Carlos Vela, striker and captain of Los Ángeles FC was chosen Player of the Week 5 of the 2019 MLS season.

This is the second time Vela is picked as MVP of the week; his first designation was after Week 2 of the season after his outstanding performance.

LAFC defeated San José Earthquakes 5-0 at Avaya Stadium after an impressive performance by the Mexican striker that ended with his first MLS hat-trick plus an assist.

Carlos Vela leads the league with six goals so far this season, besides having three assists the highest number in the MLS at the moment.

The LA captain mentioned after his first MLS hat-trick that this is just the beginning, "we have quick players in the midfield and in attack, we control the game and I think it was a great game for the whole team. We are thrilled about that, and it's just the beginning."

Los Ángeles FC

The LAFC is at the top of the Western Conference with an unbeaten record of 4-0-1 and 13 points after five weeks. The game ended 5-0 against the San José Earthquakes.

Los Ángeles FC will return to action on Saturday, April 6 to face D.C. United at Audi Field.
