Week 5 of the MLS ended with a duel that produced sparks, as LA Galaxy and Portland Timbers fought until the final minutes; the highlight of the match being Zlatan's return to the fields after missing the games since Week Two due to injury.

Prior to this match, the MLS had already given us the debut of Pozuelo, who managed to score two goals, Vela's great performance where he completed his third hat-trick of his career (the first in the USA), the historic win of Sporting Kansas City, and Wayne Rooney's goal.

Debut of Pozuelo

The Spanish midfielder came to Toronto with the task of covering the space left by Giovinco in the winter, an extremely difficult job given that the Italian led the Canadians to MLS Cup glory. Pozuelo debuted in week 5 of the MLS, but the wait was worth it.

The team from the maple leaf nation left with the three points against NYCFC thanks to the high performance of Pozuelo, who helped with two goals. The first came from the penalty spot (he scored it panenka style) and the second was a goal from another planet, a lob that left Johnson with no chance, but him throwing himself in a vain attempt made it look even better.

Unstoppable Carlos Vela

The Mexican continues to show his quality match by match, and is on course to become the best player in the league. For matchday five the captain of LAFC came out on fire, scoring a hat trick in the 5-0 win over the team of Matías Almeyda.

Vela not only scored three goals but, like every LAFC game, the Mexican was the player in charge of giving variety to the attacks, as well as being the team's most dangerous player.

Sporting Kansas City historic win

The Kansas side doesn't have as many stars as other teams in the MLS, but it is a remarkably consistent club.  Last season they reached the conference finals and this week showed their offensive power.

This Saturday they welcomed Montreal Impact, a team that had started the competition well, so it was expected to be a close affair. Once it began, though, things did not go as planned, and SKC dominated from start to finish. The match ended 7-1.

With this win, Kansas City enters the history books of the MLS, joining the top 5 most goals scored in the history of the league.

Wayne Rooney's goal

The English forward continues to show his quality with DC United, this weekend they faced Orlando City with the task to get the victory to stay in the first place of the Eastern Conference and remain unbeaten.

But nobody counted on Rooney setting up and scoring free kick a few metres from the corner flag. The English striker decided to put a rifle that surprised everyone after the ball finished in the back of the net. The score gave an advantage of two goals to D.C. United.

Zlatan's comeback

The Swedish striker missed two games because of discomfort in the Achilles tendon, but in his return, the LA Galaxy attacker took the reins of the offense of the team by scoring two goals, both came from the penalty spot, giving the victory to the side of Guillermo Barros Schelotto. The match ended 2-1.

During the match, Ibra showed that he's already fit, so much that he tried a goal from space, that ended hitting the post for the Swedish misfortune. But for the second goal, he showed again his quality by scoring Panenka-style.
