En 2007, LeBron James jugó sus primeras Finales de la NBA. Entonces, se encontró con los San Antonio Spurs y perdió por 4-0. Esta temporada, el rey ha disputado sus novenas Finales, una cifra realmente impresionante, y ha vuelto a caer 4-0 (los últimos dos 4-0 de la historia de las Finales), esta vez ante los todopoderosos Golden State Warriors.

LeBron ha jugado de manera consecutiva las últimas ocho finales de la NBA, ha ganado tres anillos y ha perdido cuatro de las últimas cinco veces que se ha encontrado a un solo paso de la gloria (las últimas tres contra los Warriors). Su récord total se sitúa, tras añadir la derrota de 2018, en un 3-6 que le coloca en el tercer escalón histórico de jugadores con más Finales perdidas (jugadores que disputaran al menos un partido en cada una de las Finales). Y tal y como publica ESPN Stats&Info, el rey también es el MVP de la NBA (cuatro veces) que más Finales ha perdido.
