According to various news media, such as ESPN, Diego Armando Maradona was taken to hospital in St Petersburg after the match between Argentina and Nigeria in the World Cup. The Argentinian legend was seen in a parlous state during and just after the match, having also fallen asleep while the game was being played. According to the sources he passed out just after the end of the match, which Argentina won 2-1, and had to be helped from the ground.
However, other sources, including Clarín and Olé denied these reports, stating that Maradona had not been hospitalised, and that he was at the hotel he is staying at in Russia.
