In the last four years the United States men's national team has faced a downfall which led them to miss the 2018 World Cup in Russia, but this sporting debacle most importantly reflected in the disappointment of the fans revealed in the stands.

According to World Soccer Talk data, the average attendance per game in the road to Brazil 2014 where the USMNT had 43 games was of 36, 697 spectators while in the road to Russia 2018, the average was of 32 thousand per game despite having one more game than in the previous process.

Due to the bad entries, the US federation decided to move their games to stadiums with less capacity, with the idea to be able to mention sold-out tickets for the games, but the truth is they can no longer go the NFL stadiums like the AT&T stadium because they won't fill it.

From 2014 to 2017 the USMNT had six games where the attendance was no greater than 10 thousand people if we compared it to the previous cycle only one game had such little assistance.

Nowadays

The downfall in the box office continues as in 2018 were the worst entries for the US men's team since 2006. If we make an average of 2018 to date, we would be talking about 21,315 people per game in nine games played.

Matches against top teams like Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico; to name a few, the decrease compared to the last cycle has dropped 34% for what the US Football Federation needs to implement new dynamics for the people to want to go back to the stadiums.

At the start of 2019, the first game of the Gregg Berhalter era was at the University of Phoenix Stadium, Arizona Cardinals home, and it was expected to have good attendance as the new World Cup cycle was beginning. However, the entry was 9 thousand people in a venue for 63, 400 sits.
