The match between DC United and Los Angeles FC is taking form and contrary to what people may think; this will be the second time Wayne Rooney and Carlos Vela will face each other.

The Mexican striker played 37 games in the Premier League with Arsenal, from 2006 to 2011. However, he never played against former Machester United star that spent more than ten years with the Red Devils, which is curious enough, as they haven't met in club level.

Their first and only meet

It was May 24, 2010, when Rooney and Vela played against each other during a friendly pre-World-Cup match between England and Mexico before South Africa 2010.

The DC United star was a starter in that game and played the whole 90 minutes while Vela only played 62, in a game that ended with a 3-1 victory for the Three Lions, but none of them scored that day.

How do Rooney and Vela arrive to the match

Both players arrive as the two best of the tournament so far, Wayne Rooney is the second leading scorer of the MLS with 4 goals in four games and two assists, with a scoring average of one goal every 90 minutes played in the current season.

Carlos Vela is the leading scorer of the MLS so far, with 6 goals in five games and three assists, having an average of a goal every 75 minutes.
