The former Manchester United and England's record goalscorer, Wayne Rooney, do not doubt that he could still play in the English Premier League quality wise.

Rooney left the Premier League last June to move to the Major League Soccer after agreeing to join D.C. United and dragged his new team off the bottom of the Eastern Conference and into playoffs.

In an interview with CNN, the English striker expressed the confidence he has in his talent.

"If I'm honest, quality wise I can still play in the Premier League. I know that I've always been a confident person, so I have high expectations of myself."

Rooney had an outstanding Premier League career, where he scored 253 goals in 559 games with Manchester United winning five league titles, one Champions League and a FA Cup.

Since arriving in the MLS, Rooney continued to showcase his talent and what he's capable off, scoring 12 goals in his debut season.

"I came here expecting to do well, I think there was a surprise from people who had their opinions which is fair enough, but I never doubted myself."
