Martino denies talks with US, Argentina and Colombia

The Argentine manager said he didn't talk with United States, Argentina and Colombia National teams when he decided to leave MLS club, Atlanta United.

Gerardo 'Tata' Martino, who coached Lionel Messi at Barcelona and with Argentina's national team, was presented on Monday as Mexico's new manager for the next World Cup cycle.

In an interview with ESPN, the former Atlanta United coach confirmed that he didn't have any contact with the US, Argentina or Colombia football Federations.

Martino said that after he decided to end his time with the MLS club, he started talking with Mexico with the permission of Atlanta United, according to Tom Marshall.

Martino, 56, takes over from Colombian strategist Juan Carlos Osorio. After leading Atlanta United to the MLS Cup.

The strategist arrives in Mexico with the mission of reaching the quarterfinals in 2022 Qatar Wolrd Cup. He's also the third Argentine coach to lead Mexico National Team after Ricardo La Volpe and Cesar Luis Menotti.
