Athletic's Yeray Álvarez back in training after cancer battle

The club's coach, Cuco Ziganda, confirmed during his press conference that the defender has beaten the disease for a second time.

Athletic Bilbao defender Yeray Álvarez has returned to training with the club after beating testicular cancer for a second time, Athletic boss Cuco Ziganda has confirmed.

The 22-year-old was originally diagnosed in 2016 and underwent a course of chemotherapy, leading the entire squad to shave their heads in solidarity, but was diagnosed again in June of this year.

Now, after a successful second round of treatment, he is back at Lezema and working towards a return to the side.
