A brutal fight during a women's football match in Gran Canaria

A fight breaks out a Segunda División (Grupo 6) game between UD Las Coloradas and CF Las Majoreras Guayadeque. The federation has opened an investigation.

As a women's football match in Gran Canaria neared its conclusion violent scenes erupted which involved many of the teams and onlookers. Some needed medical assistance.

The fight broke out in a Segunda División (Grupo 6) game between UD Las Coloradas and CF Las Majoreras Guayadeque in the López Socas stadium. The referee had awarded a penalty in the 84th minute and that's when the trouble started. Punches, kicks, drags. Four players were sent off, two from either side.

The game was suspended in light of the seriousness of the violence and the Spanish Federation has opened an investigation.
