The American midfielder, Weston McKennie suffered an injury during FIFA Date with the USMNT, damage that German team Schalke 04 reported as possible rupture ankle ligament.

The last reports coming from Germany, indicate that McKennie returned to training following his scary injury two weeks ago, something that arrives as good news after the possibility of losing him for the rest of the season.

The first impression over the injury was that the American player had a quite severe wound that could have resulted in significant structural damage.

Road to recovery

There still steps to be taken going through the process of moving from individual training to full training with the rest of his teammates to finally be back on the field, but this could still prove to be lengthy, though it's encouraging to see him again at practice so quickly.

But it's still possible that McKennie recovery will take an extended period and that he misses the rest of the season, something that will be clear after the reports on how the ankle's player responded to the stress of individual training.

Schalke 04

The German club sits ten points out of straight relegation and just six points out of 16th place with seven games to play.
