El próximo domingo 10 de febrero se celebra la gala de la 61ª edición de los Premios Grammy, en la que la Academia Nacional de Artes y Ciencias de la Grabación de Estados Unidos entregará los trofeos a los mejores artistas del pasado año. El rap es el género favorito en una ceremonia en la que se espera una gran batalla entre dos de los raperos más destacados, confirmando que la música urbana está ganando mucho protagonismo.

Kendrick Lamar lidera el ranking de candidaturas con ocho, seguido por Drake con siete. El primero ha sido el gran responsable del éxito de la música de la película Black Panther y ya fue uno de los más aclamados en la pasada edición. Tanto él como el cantante canadiense están seguidos por Brandi Carlile con seis nominaciones. Esta última, cantante de folk, opta a seis galardones destacando sus grandes opciones para el álbum del año, donde compite con Cardi B, Kacey Musgraves, H.E.R. o Janelle Monáe.

Continuando con el rap, Mac Miller está nominado a mejor álbum de su género. El rapero y ex de Ariana Grande murió hace varios meses a causa de una sobredosis, por lo que serán sus padres lo que recojan la gramola si su disco Swimming resulta vencedor.

Además, los Premios Grammy 2019 contarán con representación española, ya que Pablo Alborán es uno de los candidatos a mejor álbum de pop latino. Su Prometo tendrá como rivales a Claudia Crant, Natalia Lafourcade, Raquel Sofía y Carlos Vives.
