Diego Maradona celebrated his Sevilla debut with a 3-1 win against Bayern in a friendly in September 1992. Wearing the No.10, he wore the captain's armband.
Sevilla welcome Bayern Munich to the Sánchez Pizjuán this evening for their Champions League quarter final first leg. It will be the first time the two clubs have met in official competition but not their first encounter. Bayern were guests in a friendly in Seville on 28 September 1992 and making his debut for the hosts that day was none other than Diego Maradona, who had signed for the club just six days earlier.

Wearing the No.10, Maradona wore the captain's armband as Sevilla ran out 3-1 winners. Olaf Thon put Bayern ahead from a free-kick but Carlos Bilardo's Sevilla retaliated with goals from Monchu (2) and Davor Šuker.
