Back at the start of November, Cristiano Ronaldo declared that Real Madrid have a weaker squad since the departures of James Rodríguez, Álvaro Morata and Mariano last summer but what does James, who left to join Bayern Munich on loan in July, make of those remarks? The player was asked whether he thinks Madrid are now weaker than they were this time last year by Colombian television Noticias Caracol, and this was his reponse:
“I think he’s said that because obviously, they’ve been going through a bad moment. And that was a result of that. It’s only words, I think Real Madrid have very good players who can put in a great campaign. I think these kinds of situations arise because they are such a big club – I know how they think. I feel they have a good enough team to change their situation”.
