Zidane asked: "Who was the better player: Cristiano or you?"
The Real Madrid coach broke into a broad smile before answering with a big dose of irony: "Obviously me, clearly I was better" before giving a genuine answer.
Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane couldn't help but smile at one of the more unusual questions in today's press conference. Zizou was asked to compare himself as a player to newly-crowned Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo... He took it with good humour.
Reporter: We’ve tried to put this question in several different ways to Cristiano, it’s not the most original of questions but I don’t know whether you have been asked this in this way before: Was Zidane a better player than Cristiano is now?
Zidane: No, obviously I was better. (laughter). Obviously! If you put Cristiano and me to the test, I’ll win (more laughter). No, you all know what I think. Cristiano is a much better player than I was, by a long way. But that’s ok with me, I had quite a good career too!
