Essam El Hadary set to break age barrier at Russia 2018

Egypt's qualification for the World Cup in Russia was greeted with jubilation on the streets of Cairo as The Pharaohs reached the finals for the first time since 1990.

When Essam El-Hadary leads the side out in their group stage opener, the Egypt captain will become the oldest player in the history of the World Cup at 45.

The five next most venerable players to have graced the sport's biggest stage are Faryd Mondragon (43), Roger Milla (42), Pat Jennings (41), Peter Shilton (40) and Dino Zoff, the last three also goalkeepers.
