El Guaje Villa's football-crazy son asks Dad an awkward question

David Villa says he is thrilled that his son Luca has started taking an interest in football. Villa Junior will be watching Spain's 2018 World Cup qualifier against Italy from the stands at the Bernabéu and maybe see his dad in action. Chatting to AS this week, El Guaje confessed that a few weeks ago, his son asked him an awkward question, which he didn't really know how to reply to...

“My son Luca’s very happy about my call-up. Now he’s started really getting into football, which is a really amazing feeling for me. A while ago he started to understand what I do and now he knows all of the teams I’ve played for and he likes wearing his football kits around the house. A few weeks ago, he asked me why I am not playing for Spain anymore – I didn’t really know what to say to him. But he’s come over here with me and he’ll be watching the game which, for any father, makes me feel very proud”.
