Controverial red and penalty decides Adelaide-Brisbane
Michael Theo was sent off for Brisbane Roar in stoppage time after making the slightest contact with an opponent, despite having the ball in his hands.
Adelaide United scored a 98th minute penalty to win a controversial A-League match against Brisbane Roar 2-1 on Sunday.
Brisbane keeper Michael Theo was sent off for making fleeting contact with Adelaide's Dylan NcGowan, who took full advantage by hurling himself to the floor in faux agony. The referee didn't hesitate and sent Theo packing, leaving Brisbane's Danish midfielder Thomas Kristensen to try and keep the scores level.
However, Sergio Cirio stepped up to drill in the spot-kick to hand the home side victory.
