Mario Mola of Spain won his fourth triathlon in the world series in a sprint from Richard Murray, who was disqualified on Saturday.

Mola and Murray made their break on the run leg, and were clear. But because Murray put his swimsuit in the wrong box at the first transition, he was issued a 10-second penalty, which he fulfilled right before the finish line. Then the South African gestured at the officials, who disqualified him for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Jacob Birtwhistle of Australia was given second for his first series medal, in a photo finish with Fernando Alarza of Spain.
