After coming back from a one-goal deficit in Basel, Sevilla came back from behind to beat Liverpool and clinch a third straight Europa League title. The Rojiblancos’ domination of the tournament in recent years is as a spectacular achievement, it is by no means the only treble achieved in successive fashion in the world of sport.

Some of history’s most famous sporting trebles:

Back when he was still untouchable Tiger Woods won three straight majors in 2000 and went on to compete the Tiger Slam the following year.

Michael Jordon lifted three NBA titles on the spin with the Chicago Bulls between 1991 and 1993. Making his feat even more impressive was the fact he was named MVP in all six of his title wins.

Manchester United recorded an historic treble in 1999, becoming the first English team to win the league, the FA Cup and the European Cup in one season. A treble of Premier League titles followed.

Inter Milan were Italy’s first ever treble winners. The success of the Serie A side, then managed by José Mourinho, coined the term ‘triplete’, which entered the Italian lexicon.

Serena Williams won the first three Grand Slams of 2015 but was denied four from four in a single calendar year after losing in the US Open.
