Copa Libertadores: Boca and River both held to draws

Sao Paulo picked up a much-needed point against River Plate as they drew 1-1 and stayed within touching distance of Group 1 leaders in the Copa Libertadores.

River hit the crossbar early but Brazilian giants Sao Paulo responded well and took the lead in the 17th minute through attacking midfielder Ganso, who smashed home from outside the box in Argentina on Thursday.

Sao Paulo were buoyed by that goal but lasted only 15 minutes before they conceded in remarkable fashion.

Goalkeeper Denis made a mistake he'll want to forget, punching the ball against his own defender Thiago Mendes, then watching it it loop over his head to draw the match level.
