(English Version) Spain U20 in the World Cup: player by player
Spain has started today his camp stage for the U20 World Cup that began on July 29 in Colombia. There La Rojita will meet Costa Rica, Ecuador and Australia and the national team will carry out great part of his preparation in Colombian lands. To adapt to the height is one of Lopetegui's principal aims. On July 24 the Spanish team will play a friendly match in Perú that will be the only one previous test. This is the player by player analysis of the team:
Álex (Zaragoza)
Indisputable in the lineup, the national team has given him the confidence that it did not obtain in Barcelona and that drive him to Zaragoza’s reserve team. He is high, but without excessive corpulence, insurance and normally decisive. It is important that it keeps the confidence.
Aitor Fernandez (Athletic)
Habitual member in this generation 91, already was in the European Sub-19 last year as substitute of Álex. When he has played it has done it with guarantees. He is a goalkeeper of reflections and agility. Athletic coaches have a lot of confidence in him.
Fernando Pacheco (Madrid)
Goalkeeper of Real Madrid’s youth team on past season. He has been training with Mourinho's first team in numerous occasions, which indicates the faith that the white club has put in him. His year has been very good and he is regular enough. He will be the third goalkeeper.
Montoya (Barcelona)
Right back with a lot of projection, he is the only one that was European champion with U21 team in Denmark past June. It has already made début with Barcelona, it was fantastic with the reserves team in Segunda División and many clubs –spanish and foreigners- have been interested for him.
Marc Bartra (Barcelona)
Another one that already knows what it is feels in Guardiola's team. Elegant centre back with the ball, gleaned and of great stride when it rises to the attack, powerfully in fouls and head actions, we have seen him even as right back. He is a marvel.
Pulido (Atlético)
Centre back of guarantees, simple but also decisive and sober, he will begin in the lineup because of his great conditions being U17 and U19. Member already of the first team of Atlético, it finished in the lineups the past campaign. He is a life insurance.
Amat (Espanyol)
Pochettino gave him confidence the past campaign and the centre back of Espanyol expired in his Primera debut. He is fast and intuitive, though still he commits small failures because of his age. He has made the jump from the U19 and it will fight for a place in the lineup with Pulido.
Muniesa (Barcelona)
He has also made début with the first team of Barça. Left-footed, he began his career centre bak because of his notable quality, but one knee injury stopped his progression and when he returned was like a left back of guarantees and force in attack.
Luna (Sevilla)
His loan the past season to Almería was perfect, since he played a lot and gave a performance more than acceptable as left back. Sevilla knows that it has a very valued good with him. At first he parts in the lineup, but he will have a hard competition with Muniesa.
Oriol Romeu (Barcelona)
A bulldozer in the midfield. He fights, presses and steals as that any more, but he is not exempt from talent. His previous tournaments with Spain have been exhibitions. He has been a time stopped by an injury. Guardiola also has made him make début with the first team.
Koke (Atlético)
The great irruption of Atlético roots the past season, Quique used him as false left wing. His position is not that, he is a defensive midfielder of great physical deployment, in spite of not being very high. He will fight with Oriol Romeu for a place in the team.
Recio (Malaga)
One of Pellegrini's invention the past season in Málaga. The Chilean gave confidence to this midfielder and immediately he met a player of good deployment, capacity of work and arrival to the opposite area. A player tactically very tanned.
Sergi Roberto (Barcelona)
He played as substitute in Champions's semi-finals in Bernabéu, which it means that exists confidence in his qualities. It is elegant, talented, clean. It has vision of game, combination capacity and a surprising change of speed with which to break lines. He is a great creative midfielder.
Isco (Málaga)
The different player of the team, one astonishes just to see him to play, capablly of doing fantastic things in the midfield. It has just signed for Málaga proceeding from Valencia with a cost of 6 Euros millions. With the national team always he has given good results, the last time with the U19.
Canales (Madrid)
Left-footed of enormous quality and vision of game, midfielder with aptitude to move all the team, it crosses for difficult moments because of the small confidence that Mourinho has had in him since he was coming to Madrid. In Racing and in with Spain he left his better matches.
Tello (Barcelona)
Offensive winger, was formed in Barcelona but his jump to the professionalism in Espanyol. Nevertheless, he returned the past summer to the club culé and answered with a great year in second division. He was the goal scorer in the U20 friendly match against Italy (0-1), the only one till now.
Kiko Femenía (Barcelona)
He has just been signed by Barcelona, though presumably to play in second team. Right wing of great imbalance, he left big details with Hercules the past campaign, though finally it could not avoid the relegation. A dagger for the right flank.
Ezequiel (Betis)
His great explosion took place in the European U19 of last year, when it scored against Italy a penalty goal with the supported foot that he itself baptized as Ezequinha. He helped Betis in its return to Primera. A capable and very direct winger.
Pacheco (Liverpool)
He appeared very young as forward. Barça signed it of Málaga, but being still a cadet he left to Liverpool. In Anfield he has not had continuity and his loan to Norwich came very well for him. He was top scorer of the European U19, already playing as left winger.
Rodrigo (Benfica)
He is the reference in attack. Born in Brazil, he astonished two years ago in Real Madrid’s second team and he was transfered to Benfica, which it loaned to Bolton. In Premier League has won physical skills and corpulence, which adds to his good movements and his great left-foot one.
Álvaro Vázquez (Espanyol)
His first matches with Espanyol in the elite have served to verify that he is capable forward with quality and scorer ambitions. He can be a revulsive for the second times or an option even for wings in case of a more offensive variant.
