The Game Awards ha anunciado los juegos nominados para las distintas categorías de estos premios Oscar del mundo de los videojuegos, siendo Horizon Zero Dawn, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, Persona 5 y Super Mario Odyssey los candidatos a GOTY (Juego del año).
La lista ha sido llevada a cabo por las votaciones de 51 medios de comunicación e influencers de todo el mundo. Los títulos con más nominaciones han sido Destiny 2, Horizon Zero Dawn, Super Mario Odyssey, Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Persona 5 y PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds.
Las compañías más nominadas han sido Nintendo, con 23 nominaciones, Sony Interactive Entertainment, con 15, y Activision Publishing, con 7.
Los jugadores elegirán al Mejor Jugador de eSports, el Mejor Equipo de eSports y el juego más esperado desde hoy a través de la web oficial, usando Google Search (buscando "Game awards vote" o a través de Twitter DM y Facebook Messenger contactando con @thegameawards.
