Diego Simeone was asked why he thinks he is worshipped by Atlético de Madrid fans in a interview which was aired on Mega’s El Chiringuito programme last night.
“I think that the fans either love you or they don’t. If they can see for themselves that I am sincere, that I am transparent; if they can see my eyes and see that my eyes shine… but if my eyes don’t shine… (Shakes head)”.
Who is Diego Simeone?
“A competitor. There is no doubt about that. Right from the day I came back to Atleti, I was filled with the hope that I could take Atlético de Madrid to the place where we almost are today. I still haven’t done that, but we will keep insisting and plugging away so that the lads will know that that Pupas nickname we once had is way, way in the past!”
