Kobe Bryant, the recently retired LA Laker legend, was one of the keynote speakers at the Milken Institute’s ‘Changing the World in Innovative Ways’ event.
The five-time NBA champion and two-time Olympic gold medallist revealed some of the reasons behind his decision to call it quits on a twenty-year-long playing career.
“I stopped playing because I just didn’t want to do it anymore. I think it was just part of my evolution, it was like I wanted to move onto something else. My passion and my focus started shifting towards what comes next instead of being completely obsessed with the game itself. I had that inner conflict about walking away from the game. It had nothing to do with scoring 60 or 50 points per game”
