Atlético are in the process of a building a new 70,000 seater stadium, on the outskirts of Madrid. On their Spanish Twitter account they updated their fans on the progress of the work, with a full photo gallery on their website. According to the club the work is coming along perfectly.
The ground, which will cost around 200 million euros, is expected to be finished before the end of the 2016/17 season, with Atleti likely moving in before the start of the 2017/18 season. They'll leave behind the Vicente Calderón, in the centre of Madrid, which has been their home since 1966. One change many fans will appreciate on rainy Madrid nights is the fact the new ground is fully covered, at the current stadium only the main stand has a roof.
