Real Madrid: "Zidane doesn't have an assistant coach"

Still reeling from yesterday’s transfer ban, the club try to squash doubts about Bettoni’s credentials by saying “he is part of the technical team”.

On the back of today’s reports about Zinedine Zidane’s second in command, David Bettoni, not holding a UEFA Pro licence, Real Madrid have issued a statement refuting the claims that the Frenchman is the team’s assistant manager.

Full statement:

Real Madrid C. F. would like to inform that David Bettoni is not the assistant coach of the first team as stated in some reports published in the last few hours.

As Zinedine Zidane said in the press conference when he was presented as first team coach on the 5th of January, he doesn't have an assistant coach. David Bettoni is part of the technical team that serves the first team and assist the head coach.
