Cuffs up in Cobham as Diego Costa and Oscar go at it
A very Latin-flavoured fight broke out in Chelsea’s training ground between the Brazilian and the ex-Brazilian as teammates had to pull them apart.
Usually saving it for the opposition centre-halves, Diego Costa was involved in an ‘altercation’ with Chelsea teammate Oscar and the two had to be pulled away from each other according to reports coming out of their training ground in Cobham.
Reports have described a confrontation that came close to turning into “an ugly brawl”.
Spain striker Costa is said to have reacted angrily to an aggressive knee-high challenge from Brazil midfielder Oscar, who was himself furious with a previous challenge from the ex-Atleti man
“The pair squared up and had to be pulled apart by their shocked team-mates before angry words could turn into a physical scrap”, reported the Telegraph.
Turbulent times continue for the troubled Premier League champions who lie in 14th place in the league, just six points off the relegation zone. Jose Mourinho was sacked as manager last month following the disintegration of his relationship with several members of the squad.
However, it appears that Chelsea interim manager Guus Hiddink is unconcerned by the training-ground bust-up as he prepares for Sunday's FA Cup third-round clash against third-tier Scunthorpe United at Stamford Bridge.
Oscar also tried to play down the controversy on his Twitter account.
'For those who are talking to me and @diegocosta struggle today in training he's lying, he's one of my best friends and never fight,' he tweeted.
