Lucas and Siqueira could leave in the January window
The French player has options in La Liga and abroad. Saúl and Thomas will stay on even though the club will sign a midfielder.
Atlético de Madrid will reinforce the squad in the January window with Matias Kranevitter and hopefully Augusto: two player to bolster a midfield which is without Tiago who is out for three months at least with a fractured shin bone. Meanwhile there are a Rojiblanco few players who will be contemplating their future once the transfer market opens on 4 January.
The first is Lucas whose only appearances this season were the two Copa del Rey legs against Reus. Recently, the French player said that his intention is to stay on at Atleti and his agent Manolo García Quilón will hold discussions with the club after the Christmas break. Lucas has offers from clubs in La Liga and abroad and while he wants to continue devloping under Simeone, the presence of Godín, Giménez and Savic has limited his options.
Siqueira has also hardly figured. The Brazilian opted not to leave last summer despite interest from Benfica. The Portuguese club is expected to bring on Barça B’s Álex Grimaldo which will close the door to any move to Lisbon
Until Tiago’s injury, Thomas and Saúl were in a similar situation but both have been gaining more playing time while the midfielder has been out injured. Simeone is not keen on modifying the squad halfway through the season and would prefer to bring players in rather than offload.
