Homecoming: K.C. Rivers returns to Real Madrid
Rivers will join up with the squad that won everything last season on Monday. His contract runs until the end of the season.
K.C. Rivers is officially a Real Madrid player. Again. The club blanco has confirmed that the North American shooting guard will return to the Spanish capital, a city he told this newspaper in November that “felt like home”.
The reinforcement comes with the long-term injury to Rudy Fernández. Real Madrid have now made 14 first-team signings which will become 15 of they finally bring UCAM’s Murcia Augusto Lima to the royal city in January – a signing that looks increasingly unlikely due to the recent arrival of Maurice Ndour.
Passport issues, which forced Rivers to leave los blancos last time, may again become an issue as the Liga Endesa only allows two ‘extracomunitario’ passports – ones usually held by players from outside the EU and a limit of ten squad changes per season. However, the Euroliga has no such restrictions, leaving Laso free to choose from a full squad in the European competition.
