Claudio Bravo: 5 trophies in 2015 to equal Sergie Aurier
The Chilean goalkeeper made history after Barça collected the Club World Cup today – he equals Ivorian Sergie Aurier who won five.
2015 has turned out to be a fairytale year for Claudio Bravo who collected his fifth winners' medal today after Barça were crowned champions of the Club World Cup; he becomes the player to have won the most trophies in 2015 alongside Paris-Saint Germain’s Sergie Aurier’s.
Bravo kept a clean sheet as Barça beat River Plate 3-0 in today’s final to add the Club World Cup trophy to the Liga BBVA, Copa del Rey and UEFA Super Cup which the keeper played a part in. He was also part of the Chile side which won the Copa América last summer and would have overtaken Sergie Aurier’s tally of six (Ligue 1, Coupe de France, Coupe de la Ligue, Trophée des Champions [with PSG] and Africa Cup of Nation [with Ivory Coast]).
Bravo would have had to make room for six winners’ medals on his mantelpiece, had he taken part in the Champions League but he was denied a medal as he didn’t play a single minute of the tournament.
He was denied equalling the all-time record when Athletic Club became the only team to deny Barça of silverware in August’s Spanish Supercup. Dani Alves holds the record with seven winners’ medals in 2009 - Liga BBVA, Copa del Rey, Spanish Supercup, UEFA Super Cup, Club World Cup`- with Barça and the Confederations Cup with Brazil.
