BARCELONA | ROBERT GONÇALVES
Barça near deal for Fluminense prospect Gonçalves
Barcelona want to try the Brazilian forward in the youth team on loan while he trains under Luis Enrique.
Barcelona and Fluminense are close to agreeing a loan deal for Brazilian striker Robert Gonçalves. Barça's intention is to bring the player to Spain on a sort of extended trial at Barcelona B, Gonçalves' agent confirmed.
"We are in negotiations with Barcelona. Fluminense have accepted the proposal and Barcelona are happy with it. We're just waiting to receive all the information we need before travelling to Barcelona. It will be a year-long loan," Vitor Leal told Globoesporte.
Gonçalves has played just five official matches for Fluminense, totalling 179 minutes and scoring one goal so far this season. He is a forward who can also play in midfield.
Barcelona's expect to start Gonçalves in Barcelona B but he will train with the first team squad under Luis Enrique. "Barcelona want Robert to play in the youth team and to work towards playing for the senior side. They have been watching him for some time and they think his style will fit in with the club's philosophy. He won't be short of opportunities there," said Leal.
