Giovinco named MLS ‘Player of the Year’ 2015
The Italian striker also won the MLS Golden boot award for his 22 MLS goals for Toronto FC.
Toronto FC’s , Sebastian Giovinco was selected earlier today as the MLS Player of the Year 2015 (MVP) after his excellent début season for the Canadian side which say them qualify for the end of season play-offs.
"I’m very honoured to relieve this honour. I’m very happy to be at Toronto FC and delighted to have chosen the city as my new home” declared the Italian striker.
The 28 year old also won the MLS Golden Boot award for his 22 goals and 16 assists during the Seaton. He was also chosen in the ideal XI which was chosen by MLS experts which saw him in a front three that included Columbus Crew’s, Kei Kamara and LA Galaxy’s, Robbie Keane.
Giovinco arrived at Toronto FC in January 2015 following his move from Serie A side, Juventus FC. With his 22 goals and 16 assists he became the first player in MLS history to score more than 20 goals and be involved in over 10 assists in the history of the league.
Giovinco is also the first Toronto FC player and the first Italian to win the MLS MVP award in league history.
