Gregorio Manzano has announced today that his working relationship with Chinese Super League Beijing Guoan is at an end. The 59-year-old Spanish coach has been in charge of the Imperial Guards for two seasons, guiding the team to a fourth-place finish in his final term after ending as runners-up in the CSL last year.
Manzano "has reached an agreement" with the Chinese club, according to a brief press release which gave no further details.
On his own personal web page, Manzano posted a message: “The Chinese people have been incredibly friendly and well-mannered with me”, he said. His departure has not come as a huge surprise and speculation about his future has been rife during the past few weeks. He had one year to run on his contract with the club.
