Polish media link Lewandowski with summer Madrid move

Polish daily newspaper, ‘Przeglad Sportowy’ focused on the ongoing interest that Madrid have in Robert Lewandowski. Florentino tried to sign the striker in 2013, but his deal at Bayern kept the player in Munich.

Polish daily, Przeglad Sportowy have started to report as to what could possibly be one of Real Madrid’s key signings next summer. “Madrid dream of Lewy”, was the recent headline in the publication with a positive reputation when it comes to the futures of leading Polish players and especially Lewandowski. They claim that Madrid’s interest in the Bayern striker has increased given the uncertainty surrounding French player, Benzema and an ever growing question mark surrounding Cristiano’s future in the Spanish capital”. Lewandowski didn’t defuse this situation when he was asked at the Polish training camp and was happy to be pictured with the article. All the player said to diffuse the rumor was that: “I have a contract with Bayern”.

The 27 year old Lewandowski has a deal with the German champions that runs through to 2019 with the player earning a salary of 10 million euro per annum.

Madrid were interested in securing the signature of the Polish player in 2013 after Mourinho’s Madrid were demolished by Lewandowski’s four goals for Dortmund in the semi-final of the Champions League (2012-13). Florentino spoke with the player in an office close to the changing rooms at the Bernabéu after the return leg. Lewandowski revealed this claiming: “We spoke together after the game, we talked but it was too late...”. The Polish striker had already signed a pre-contract deal with Bayern.

His move to Bayern Munich from Dortmund was made official on January 4,2014, with still the remainder of the 2013-14 season outstanding. That seasons the Polish marksman netter 19 goals in 18 games.
