Lucas Alcaraz visited Levante’s training ground at Buñol this morning to say farewell to the players and club employees. Alcaraz was sacked late last night with the Valencia based club propping up the league table with just six points from the opening ten fixtures. Villafaina will now oversee all coaching aspects for the Levante first team until a successor for Alcaraz is found.
The spotlight now falls on the club’s sporting director, Manolo Salvador, as he begins the quest to find a successor for Alcaraz. A special summit meeting was held last night by club committee members, who after hours of deliberation finally agreed that severing ties with the Andalusian coach was the correct move forward for the club. The conveyed their verdict to club president, Quico Catalán who informed the coach by mail as at the same time Levante issued an official club communiqué breaking the decision to sack Alcaraz.
