Butragueño: "I’m thrilled Madrid are going back to Cádiz"
Butragueño, who made his debut at the Carranza and scored one of the best goals of his career against Cádiz, is delighted with the draw.
Real Madrid’s Director of Institutional Relations, Emilio Butragueño couldn’t be happier with the outcome of today’s Copa del Rey Round of 32 draw. Madrid have been pitted against Cádiz – a club and a city which holds many fond memories for Butragueño. He made his first team debut with Madrid, under Alfredo Di Stéfano, at the Ramón de Carranza stadium and scored twice, including a last-minute winner in the 3-2 victory. “It’s a real pleasure to be going back there; they are a club with great tradition and have passionate supporters. I made my debut in Cádiz. To be going back there, to such a happy, vibrant city, who life their football with passion is wonderful. Playing a game at the Carranza is an experience which never disappoints.
“I owe a lot to that stadium; I will always cherish the memories I have of the place so personally, I’m thrilled to be going back to Cádiz. Very soon they will be back in the Division”, Butragueño said.
