"Yes, I’d like to be national team coach – a lot" - Luis Enrique
Luis Enrique spoke today: "The only thing that concerns me with Messi is that he recovers well. The key isn’t returning for this or that game".
Barcelona coach Luis Enrique previewed tomorrow’s game against Rayo Vallecano in the company of the press this afternoon. The coach also said he’d be open to taking on the Spain job if he were to be asked: "I’d like to be national team coach; I’d like that a lot".
CF Villanovense in the Copa del Rey draw: “I can’t say I know very much about them to be honest. We’ll compile information on them and start thinking about them when the game nears. Right now what matters is tomorrow’s game with Rayo Vallecano. We’ll be looking to do something similar to last year’s meeting but now Xavi’s gone that’s not possible. We need to find other solutions. Rayo will give us diffuculties; these are always tough games for us”.
Mascherano: “A lot of players have accumulated a lot of minutes’ playing time. Him, Busquets, and so on… I’ll try to find a moment when they can get some rest, but right now I can’t see it happening. Both of them will play tomorrow. We haven’t got a great deal of margin. I would have liked them to have returned fully rested but that wasn’t the case. It’s a question of managing the workload and bringing in players who doesn’t feature regularly”.
Suárez: “He’s fine, and fit to play”.
Messi: “The only thing that concerns me with Messi is that he recovers well. What matters isn’t that he returns for this game or that game – just that he gets well. All of the talk about him being under pressure to return are just rumours. The AFA feel exactly the same as we do about it; Martino and myself want the same as Messi does, that he makes a complete recovery”.
Injuries: “Vermaelen are Adriano are available. Iniesta is nearing the end of his recovery and Rafinha is starting his rehabilitation. Our international players are all good players and that’s why they go off to be with their national teams. We’re used to it and can’t do any extra preparation to compensate for it. The ideal situation doesn’t exist and we just have to do the best we can”.
The club’s economic situation: “Nobody’s said anything to me about whether we are able to sign players or not. It’s not something which I air in public. Since the summer we have been working on finding solutions but I can’t say any more than that”.
Munir: “He’s looking good, and so is Sandro. Both of the have quality, but I am not going to start putting demands on them; they should not be under any pressure even though both of them are capable of producing a lot more”.
