Silva in the wars after reckless Gerson challenge

David Silva’s participation in tonight’s EURO 2016 qualifier lasted just nine minutes. The Manchester City player was left hobbling after Lars Gerson clipped his ankles in a reckless challenge from behind. On seven minutes. Silva returned but asked to be taken off and was replaced by Juan Mata.
After undergoing tests, it is believed that Silva has suffered a sprain to the lateral internal ligament in his right ankle. Medical staff have not given an estimate as to how long he faces on the sidelines but he could face two to three weeks out, and has already been ruled out of Monday's game against Ukraine.
