UEFA TEAM OF THE WEEK
Cristiano leads the Champions League team of the week
UEFA selected the striker in their team of the week with Lewandowski. Mata also makes the team after his brilliant back-heel.
Potency up front characterized the UEFA team of the week with record-breaking Cristiano Ronaldo and probably the most in-form striker in the world Lewandowski in the attack. The Spanish representation came in the shape of Juan Mata after his spectacular assist for Manchester United. Hart is in goal for the team following his penalty save and all-round outstanding performance which allowed Manchester City to stay alive in the big Cup.
The other striker is Hulk. The Brazilian created both goals for his team against Gant giving his side the win.
The midfield is made up of Olympiakos player Fortounis and the Argentianian Gaitán who plays for Benfica. He was instrumental in the clash at the Calderón in which Simeone’s Atleti fell to the team from Benfica.
The defence featured Mladenović (BATE), the Italian Barzagli (Juventus), Brazilians David Luiz (PSG) and Maicon (Porto), who scored his team’s winning goal against Chelsea.
Goal of the week: UEFA also published the candidates for this prize: Feghouli, Lewandowski, Luis Suárez, Smalling and Lestienne all in the mix.
