Suarez steps up

Barça were overwhelmed in the first half, Stegen was at fault for Papadopoulos goal, in 2 minutes Sergi Roberto and the Uruguayan staged a lightning comeback.

Barça dragged an agonizing game back defeat, their first without Leo Messi. Pride over pretty football gave Barça the points tonight. An excellent Bayer Leverkusen scored in the first half and were stunned by two goals in two minutes from Barça. Three points worth pure gold with goals from Sergi Roberto and Luis Suarez.

It was a hard night. Particularly when Ter Stegen indecision again allowed Papadopoulos to score unchallenged with his head. A worried Camp Nou began to whistle, three months after winning a triple, whistles that only ceased with the injury to Andres Iniesta. The Manchegan had to leave the pitch, and, curiously, that was when Barça mounted their comeback. First Sergi Roberto (a sub) poked in after Bernd Leno had saved from a Suarez zambombazo from inside the box, a good piece of play from Munir in the build-up (another sub). The Camp Nou exploded, but this time to applaud a team to whom the next two months will feel like two years.
