Season over for Rafinha
Barcelona have confirmed that the player has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and will undergo surgery.
Rafinha Alcántara has waved goodbye to the rest of the season. Barcelona confirmed this morning that the player has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. He will undergo surgery and will be sidelined for several months.
The Barça youth team graduate had to be stretchered off from last night’s game against Roma just three minutes after coming on. He was on the end of a brutal challenge from Radja Nainggolan, who a few months ago, broke Federico Mattielo’s ankle with a similar, wayward tackle.
Barça cannot sign anyone to replace Rafinha
Despite the severity of Rafinha’s injury, Barça will not be allowed to sign a player to replace him under the regulations stipulated in FIFA’s transfer ban, which is in effect until January 2016.
