Célia Sasic wins Best Women’s Player award
The German player finished ahead of Dzsenifer Marozsán and Amandine Henry. Šašić won the Champions League with Frankfurt last term.
Women’s football was also prominent at today’s UEFA gala and while Leo Messi picked up the Men’s award, German player Célia Šašić was elected the best women’s player in Europe during 2014/2015. Šašić came ahead of finalists Dzsenifer Marozsán and Amandine Henry.
Šašić won the Champions League with Frankfurt last season, ending as the tournament’s top scorer. She also shone at 2015 Women’s World Cup Canada just weeks before announcing that she would be retiring from the game. “I’ll miss football but there are other things which I will focus on, such as my studies”, she said at the time.
Bayern Munich’s Vero Boquete almost ended as one of the three finalists but finished fourth in this year’s edition.
