Stomach problem sidelines Isco for Valerenga friendly
Real Madrid's best player over the pre-season missed out on the match in Oslo but is expected to return to training on Tuesday with the rest of the squad.
Isco did not feature in Real Madrid’s friendly against Valerenga despite being part of the squad that travelled to Oslo. Madrid’s most impressive player during the pre-season was absent due to a stomach problem. The playmaker had a bad night on Saturday and coach Rafa Benítez preferred not to risk the midfielder. Isco watched on from the bench and his setback is not a worry. He is expected to train on Tuesday as normal with the rest of the squad.
With regards to the other injured players, Benítez is expected to welcome Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos back for the Bernabéu Trophy match against Galatasaray next week. Neither travelled to Norway owing to niggling injury problems but will face the Turkish team on August 18. Another player who is set to return to training is Fabio Coentrao. The full-back has been sidelined throughout the pre-season with injury but he hopes to return to action and work under his new coach for the first time this week.
