Real Madrid confirmed on Friday that third choice goalkeeper Fernando Pacheco has joined Deportivo Alavés on a three-year deal although they have included a clause in the contract which will allow them to buy him back so they decide to.
Pacheco, 23, has spent practically all of his career in Madrid’s youth and reserve teams, starting out with the Under-16s and making his way up to the first team with whom he made his debut against Ponferradina in the Copa del Rey in December 2011. Last season he was permanent member of the first team squad.
He has also represented Spain at various youth levels including Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 categories.
Pacheco completed the first part of the pre-season with the first team squad but coach Rafa Benítez announced earlier this week that one of the goalkeepers would be leaving and Rubén Yáñez will take over as the third keeper this season.
