Van Gaal: "De Gea will play against Barça, and Spurs"
The Man United manager refuses to budge and declares that David de Gea will play the opening game of the season against Spurs.
Louis van Gaal previewed tomorrow’s friendly meeting with his former club FC Barcelona in Friday’s press conference. The Manchester United manager was in no mood to deal with questions about the transfer market and ended by saying that not everything that is being reported in the papers is true. He also confirmed that David de Gea is over his fitness problems and will feature against the Spanish champions tomorrow.
De Gea: When a player is injured [during the pre-season] it's the same thing, you have to wait. I give players time to recover and build up their fitness. It's still possible that David will be ready to start the season against Spurs because he shall play tomorrow.
United’s Argentine players: They’ll arrive in San José tomorrow. I’m not going to talk about transfers or anything that concerns the immediate future of the players.
Luis Enrique: I have great memories of him. Luis Enrique was my player - he always played for me and always played 100 per cent. He was like Wayne Rooney. He scored a lot of goals for me. He played in the number10 position. As a person I like him very much.
Ramos-De Gea-Pedro: I never answer those kinds of questions because I cannot. I want to but it is not good for Man United, for the players and or for me. Every word I spent for players who are in the process is one word too much because I have read a lot of interesting players that Man United should buy, but not everything you read is true.
