MANCHESTER CITY 1 - 4 REAL MADRID
Modric off at half-time after receiving knock
The Croatian midfielder was on the end of a stern challenge from Delph and came off as a precaution.
Modric came off at half-time in Real Madrid’s 4-1 win over Manchester City. The Croatian midfielder was clearly unhappy for the final few minutes of the first half after being on the end of a strong Delph challenge. He was seen repeatedly massaging and stretching the affected area.
In the end Modric was substituted off at half-time as a precaution. Last season he struggled with injuries and missed 32 games. Benítez is clearly keen to look after him, knowing he’s a vital player for Madrid.
Once in the dressing room the Madrid medics gave him the once over and pronounced there was nothing seriously amiss. Simply a knock. Modric himself confirmed the news as he went through the mixed zone after the game.
