REAL MADRID | LUCAS SILVA
Lucas Silva: “I need to speak to Benítez, leaving is a possibility”
The Brazilian player wants to find out if he’s going to have a chance of playing this season, otherwise a loan deal looks likely.
Lucas Silva is enjoying his last few days of holidays before returning to Madrid and putting himself at the orders of Rafa Benítez. The midfielder doesn’t have a guaranteed spot in the team for the coming season and going out on loan is a distinct possibility, particularly given the number of non-EU players (Spanish domestic rules only permit three in the squad). At the moment Real Madrid have three ((Lucas Silva, Danilo and Casemiro) but there is still plenty of time for more players to come in. “Leaving on loan to play more is a possibility. There are also too many non-EU players at Real Madrid”, said Silva to Sport TV.
The former Cruzeiro player’s main aim when he returns from Brazil on Friday is to sit down with Rafa Benítez to find out his intentions. “When I get back from holiday I’ll have a meeting with the coach and find out how it’s all going to work”, said the midfielder.
If the new Real coach doesn’t appear to be interested in Lucas Silva for the coming season, a loan deal looks likely. Deportivo, Sevilla and Porto have all shown interest, though as yet there hasn’t been any official contact. “A lot of stuff has been published but it’s all speculation. When I get to Madrid, I’ll start the pre-season and I’ll find out more about my future. What I have in mind at the moment is to carry on at Madrid”.
